9 Cylindawelcome to  BIGAIRPLANES

My buddy Craig (cbk07) is selling his 41% Pitts Model 12.
Craig is the best builder I know. The plane is spectacular,
See it on RC Universe classifieds.

Mr. Elie Snap A Saurus maidens his new 41% Pitts Model 12.
Beautifull build job by Tom Mikaloauskas (Ohio), 937 222-7705.
Aerographix did all the vinyl.
Powered by a Desert Aircraft DA-150 on tuned pipes.
Last words from Elie before taking off was
"I'm not going to 3-D this plane"
Wait till he gets used to it.

Thanks Dar Cline for making Elie's Pitts 12 look ALLOT nicer.

Quique hovers my 50% Python at the XFC noon time demo.

Joe Nall 2006 was Pitts Model 12 week.
There was a great turnout of Pitts Model 12's.
Kevin Kimball and son Kallin came to Joe Nall this year.

left to right: Bob Trueworthy, Tom Drake, Quique Somenzini,
Kallin Kimball (14 year old & full scale Python builder) and smooth Buddy Hale.

Pictures below were taken by Dar Cline, thanks Dar.

Star of the show, Tom Drake's 41% Pitts Python.

Quique Somenzini's new 41% Pitts Python takes flight.
Quique started with a bigairplanes 41% Pitts Model 12 kit,
made some small changes, powers it with a DA-200 4 cylinder Engine,
and now has, possibly, the best aerobatic model in the world.

My 50%, 132" Pitts Python takes to the sky at Joe Nall.

Master builder Tom Drake Has done it again.
An exact 41% replica of the brand new Pitts Python.
Speaking of master builders, this is the team that
designed and built the new Pitts Python.
This is Jim Kimball Enterprises,
home of the Pitts Model 12.

(The best in the world at building aerobatic Planes)
(Check them out at www.jimkimballenterprises.com)

Left to right are some really great guys:
Joe Nicholas, Greg Lodde, Jim Kimball, Kevin Kimball, Dave Ehrhart,
Ian Wilson, Kallin Kimball (3rd. generation aircraft builder) and Jeff Woodham.
Tom Drake, photographer, would be in the picture but he took it.
(I think Kallin is already taller then his dad or his grandad), or maybe he's standing on a stool).
I believe Greg has a full scale Pitts.  Jim and Kevin own some nice planes,
but usually sell them soon after they build them.

After many redesigns,
Bigairplanes has 41% kits available.
The Wing Span is 108 1/4"
Length 109 1/4"
weight 44 lbs., with a DA-150
Engine 150 cc and up.
(If interested, click on the hover button
on the left, for more information).

Pitts Python fly's.
Jim & Kevin Kimball have built a real hot rod.
For more information and a video clip see
jimkimballenterprises.com or pittspython.com
(I think it's the most beautiful aerobatic plane ever).

Also over the winter I built a 50% Pitts Python.
She has a wing span of 132" and is a 132" long.
She's ready for Joe Nall.
(By the way, the little plane is Elie's, snap-a-saurus, 40% Carden Edge)
No kits are planned of this size.

Steve Mitchell from across the pond (England)
has just finished and is flying a 35% Pitts Model 12,
powered by a 250cc, 5 cylinder radial,
swinging a custom made 35" x 25 pitch carbon fiber prop.  More pictures on the customers page.

Scott Davis, from Salt Lake City,
flies his  Pitts Model 12.
Scott built an absolutely beautiful aircraft
modeled after Bob Eicher's full scale Pitts 12.
(Check out Bob's full scale on the Color Schemes page)

(The 41% below was built by Sylvester Hale
and flown by "
smooth" Buddy Hale).
This was the first 41% built from the production kit.
This Pitts along with many others will
be at Joe Nall this May.

Sylvester & Buddy Hale from Lexington, KY.
fly their 41% Pitts 12 at the 2005 D.O.G.S. Airshow.
Dennis Kirby did the graphics and Dar Cline
dresses up the whole package.

Master builder and good friend, Sylvester Hale

A brand new magazine "3-D FLYER"
had this picture in their July-August issue.
With a 108" top wing it just fits thru. the gate at Joe Nall.
Thanks to 3-D Flyer magazine for letting us use their picture.
Check them out at WWW.3-DFLYER.COM
or your local hobby shop.

David Searles just flys the heck out of his 41% Pitts Model 12.

Joe Nall has come-n-gone, a great time.
Shots below from Joe Nall 2004.

Yes it will 3D !

Bobby Mack snapped the picture below at Joe Nall.

I would like to thank Jerry Smith for the pictures below !

Air show pilot, Debbie Gary, is having Jim Kimball Enterprises build her a Pitts Model 12.
The Pitts Model 12, which has not been covered, is on display at Sun-N-Fun at the
Kimballs booth.  Hanging next to full scale Pitts 12 is a bigairplanes 35% Pitts Model 12
built by master builder, Tom Drake, covered in Debbie's new color scheme.
Debbie will fly her new Pitts Model 12 at Oshkosh in Aug. 04
The picture below is Tom's new model 12

My new red & white 41% Pitts Model 12 came out at 44 1/2 lbs.,
a savings of 7 1/2 lbs. over the yellow & purple Pitts 12.

Got to fly with my friend Steven Krome at
the Chenango Bridge IMAA event held on 8/9/03

Where else could 2 old farts (Tom Drake and me)
have so much fun and not get arrested ?
Joe Nall !
Thank you to Ben Lanterman for these Joe Nall shots.
Check out his web site http://public.fotki.com/benlanterman/
for 400 plus pictures of Joe Nall.

David Searles, from Santa Ana, California, is the first to finish
the newly designed, Bigairplanes 41% Pitts Model 12.
With a wing span of 108" and a 3W 200 for power, David will compete in the SCAT series with his big Pitts 12.
David made his first flights on 4/26/03.
To check out more pictures of David's plane,
click on CUSTOMER'S PITTS 12 hover button.

Tom Drake made the first flights on his 35% Pitts 12
on 3/18/03 (its great to live in Florida)
His Pitts 12 is fabric covered in the open areas and fiberglassed in the sheeted areas. Rib stitching, screws, and panel lines boosted the weight to 38 lbs.
The big news is that Tom flies this big Pitts 12 with a DA-100.
His comment was 'that in the air it was smooth, nimble and performed remarkably well".
Tom lives very close to Jim Kimball Enterprises, home of the full scale Pitts Model 12, and visits them often.
The picture below is of Kevin Kimball (designer of the full scale Pitts Model 12) and his son Kallin, with Tom's Pitts Model 12 in front of Bob Eicher's full scale Model 12.
